The 5 Parishes Show is back
Despite the weather which threatened to blow away all our tents and turned the site into a mudbath – we managed to stage a show in 2023 for the first time for 4 years. We had lots of lovely feedback from members of the public, stallholders and entertainers, all pleased that we had got the show back up and running. We are very pleased to announce, therefore, that there will be a show in 2024 and that it will now also include the Horse Show once again.
It looks as though our new site is going to be our permanent one now, as the result of the work that has been carried out on the Army Ranges at Fingringhoe has meant that the site is no longer viable for us at the moment. We are extremely grateful to Jan and Eric Coan for letting us use their land and look forward to welcoming you all there again this year.
Our History
in 2024The show has been a longstanding feature of the community, made up of the five parishes of Abberton, Langenhoe, Peldon, Great and Little Wigborough for over 90 years. Starting as an horticultural show to allow local agricultural workers to show off their prize produce, it has developed into a country show with horticultural, domestic and children’s competitions, commercial and charity stalls, all day main ring entertainment, various displays and plenty of food and drink.
The Show also incorporates well supported horse and dog shows and, at its peak, the show is attended by over 2500 people, drawn from all over the local area.
Completely run by volunteers on a non-profit basis, the Show is an enormous undertaking for our small local community, and we are always looking for people to be involved and to help organise and run it.
If you would like to be involved in this local event which at its heart is about bringing the 5 village communities together to enjoy a fun filled day for all the family, please get in touch.
We look forward to welcoming you all to the 90th 5 Parishes Show in 2026.
